Job Description

We are looking for candidates with a background in the sawmill industry.  Individuals with prior work experience are encouraged to apply, however we are willing train the right candidates on the job.  Candidates will be performing the following functions: removes wood from conveyor, stacks wood in designated area.  Physical requirements: heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting.  Cleanup duties will be part of the daily job functions at the sawmill.  Must be able to work in fast paced environment while maintaining safety.  Candidates need to have a good attendance record and able to work any shift.  Qualified individuals can apply in person or respond to this posting by emailing a resume and cover letter.

Herbert Lumber Company, a leading lumber manufacturing company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Swing Shift Sawmill Supervisor to join our team. If you have a strong background in sawmill operations and leadership skills to manage a dynamic team, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision: Oversee and manage all aspects of sawmill operations during swing shift, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality production.
  2. Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of production workers, machine operators, and support staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  3. Production Planning: Collaborate with other shifts and prioritize tasks to meet production targets and deadlines, optimizing mill efficiency.
  4. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality lumber products that meet industry and client standards.
  5. Safety Compliance: Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
  6. Equipment Maintenance: Collaborate and communicate with maintenance on equipment needs and repairs.
  7. Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and contribute to their professional growth.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in sawmill operations a plus.
  2. Proven experience in a supervisory role within a sawmill or similar manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of lumber production processes, machinery, and equipment.
  4. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
  7. Flexibility to work swing shifts as required.
